Exaptation (II)

Exaptation (II) transforms a series of digital images selected from the artist’s personal archive into material objects. Using a scanner and coding, the video creates fictional landscapes through the scanner’s unique and unrepeatable processes of stretching, deformation, and glitching. The recycled images become tactile, emerging as material objects with intensified textures and grain that shift our attention from their content to their material qualities.

Exaptation (II) was exhibited at El Museo Gallery in Buffalo, New York, as part of the exhibition Media-As-Things in April 2019.
