Off The Path (II)

Off The Path (II) is a video installation consisting of a black wooden box embedded with five small magnifying loupes. Each loupe plays a different miniature-size video playing inside the box. In this setting, attentions are mostly drawn to the image’s texture, pixels, and material qualities. To view the work, visitors must move close to the box, peer through the lenses, and adjust their position, height and focus. The small scale and limited field of vision prevent the videos from being seen all at once, making viewing a physical and active process of engagement for the audience.

Off The Path (II) was exhibited in MAKE.MEDIA.MATTER (2018) at the University at Buffalo’s Art Gallery at the Center for the Arts.
